NMB Bearings

NMB is the bearing brand of the MinebeaMitsumi group and specialises in miniature and small deep groove ball bearings: about 60 percent of the world market for miniature bearings under 22 mm outside diameter is NMB. It does not make large bearings; the catalog shows NMB equivalents for sizes up to 12 mm bore. Codes come from the outside and bore diameters instead of the ISO number, so check the dimensions when choosing an equivalent.

Code structure

Series letter + four digits: the first two are the outside diameter (mm), the last two are the bore times 10. R- thick series, L- thin series, RI- inch series. Example: R-2280 = 8×22 mm (608), L-1680 = 8×16 mm (688). The shield or seal suffix is written next to the code (R-2280HH, R-2280DD); stainless steel bearings start with DD (DDL-1680ZZ).

Markings on the bearing: The box, and often the metal shield, shows NMB and the part number (for example L-1680ZZ). The ISO number (608, 688) is not written; read the size from the code.
